To fuel your morning, enjoy this antioxidant-rich, heart-healthy smoothie that is easy to prepare using the power of ONE.  This smoothie contains 300 calories, of which 40% is heart-healthy fat.  It also contains 10 grams of fiber to help keep you full all morning long.  That’s 40% of your recommended needs for fiber if you are a woman and 26% if you are a man.  With the average US female and male consuming 15-18 grams a day respectively, you will be way ahead of the curve.


  • One cup of vanilla almond milk, unsweetened

  • One ripe banana

  • One tablespoon of chia seeds

  • One tablespoon of peanut or almond butter

  • One cup of ice

Soak chia seeds at least 10 minutes.  You will notice a gel forming around the seed clusters as they start to absorb the liquid surrounding them.  This process helps our bodies digest the seeds and absorb the nutrients that they contain.   You could also soak the seeds the night before and keep the mixture refrigerated if you are in a hurry.

Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
